Service and community
I joined the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism in June 2025. The work connects statewide service priorities with the people and organizations that can act on them.
The Commission brings volunteer resources together around community needs and oversees Maryland’s participation in the federal national-service framework. Its responsibilities include a three-year service strategy and program priorities. This is work within an institution, with continuing obligations beyond any single meeting.
My role in the wider record
This is the current appointment in a record of three Maryland state commissions under governors of both parties. The consumer-protection and economic-development appointments were Senate-confirmed. The scope here is service and civic engagement, rather than a claim that one commissioner directs every program.
